Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Tap it out, let it go.
EFT, also called “tapping,” is a simple yet powerful method that uses your fingertips to tap on specific meridian points while acknowledging emotional pain, stress, or limiting beliefs. Think of it as acupuncture without needles—blending ancient Chinese meridian theory with modern psychology.
EFT helps you interrupt looping thoughts, release stored trauma, and shift emotional energy by physically involving the body in the healing. You talk, you tap, and something starts to shift.
History
EFT was developed in the 1990s by Gary Craig, a Stanford-trained engineer turned personal performance coach. It evolved from an earlier technique called Thought Field Therapy (TFT), and grew quickly because of one thing—it works.
Over the last three decades, EFT has been studied and applied in clinical settings, trauma therapy, addiction recovery, performance coaching, and even war veteran rehabilitation.
It’s now a widely used energy psychology tool, valued for how quickly it reduces emotional intensity—even in situations where talk therapy alone hasn’t helped.
How Does It Work?
In an EFT session, we begin by identifying the issue—be it emotional pain, fear, memory, or a subconscious pattern. You then tap gently on a sequence of acupressure points (mostly on the face, hands, and upper body) while voicing out the emotional charge.
We tap while speaking the truth of what you're feeling—not suppressing it, not sugar-coating it. The combination of touch and verbal acknowledgement sends a calming signal to the brain, rewiring your stress response. This lowers cortisol, releases emotional tension from the body, and helps the nervous system unlearn old fear loops.
EFT doesn’t bypass the issue. It walks you through it—safely, gently, with your body as an ally.
This is for You, When…
When you overreact to small triggers and don’t know why
When you carry shame, guilt, or memories that replay on loop
When anxiety hijacks your body tight chest, racing heart, frozen limbs
When you can’t seem to forgive yourself or someone else
When you’re scared to speak your truth or set boundaries
When past trauma still feels present in your body
When cravings or addictions seem stronger than your will
When panic or fear shows up before an exam, a performance, or a difficult conversation
When you’re trapped in “what ifs” and worst case scenarios
When you feel emotionally blocked, but can’t access what’s beneath it
Not for You, If…
You want something passive you’ll be participating actively in this process
You’re unwilling to speak or feel uncomfortable expressing difficult emotions aloud
You’re in a dissociative episode or deep trauma state and haven’t built emotional safety yet
You expect instant transformation without giving space for integration
You’re looking for a substitute for therapy in a clinical mental health crisis
Please Note
EFT is a powerful tool for emotional regulation, trauma healing, and subconscious reprogramming—but it is not a replacement for psychiatric care or emergency medical support. That said, it works beautifully in conjunction with therapy, medication, and other healing modalities, especially when you want to move emotional energy through the body instead of staying stuck in your head.
The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.
